As reported on our Facebook page in July, there has been a number of telephone scams doing the rounds. We have been made aware of another wave of calls claiming to be from Amazon asking for account details. As well as this, we have also been notified of calls claiming to cut off internet supply, if the callers instructions are not followed.
It is important that you remain vigilant and protect yourself. You can do this by:
- Not handing over any personal information
- Not sharing account details over the phone
- Asking yourself if you have heard of the company or individual before – if not, the chances are it is a scam
- Remembering if in doubt, hang up.
If you have experienced one of these calls please contact the police immediately on 01534 612612.
